i Double-Blind Review Policy

Fair, Unbiased & Confidential Evaluation

JCEBS operates a Double-Blind Peer Review policy for all submitted manuscripts. Under this system, the identity of both authors and reviewers remains strictly confidential throughout the entire review process.

This policy guarantees impartial and objective evaluation, preventing any potential bias related to author affiliation, institutional prestige, geographic origin, or academic seniority.

i Detailed Review Stages

1. Initial Desk Screening & Plagiarism Audit

Desk Evaluation

Upon manuscript submission, the Managing Editor and Desk Editor conduct an initial assessment to verify:

  • Alignment with JCEBS Focus and Scope (capital markets, economics, finance, corporate governance, business studies).
  • Adherence to the official JCEBS manuscript template and structural guidelines.
  • Plagiarism check using Turnitin (similarity index must be strictly below 25%).

⚠️ Manuscripts that fail desk screening or exceed the similarity index threshold will be returned for correction or desk-rejected prior to peer review.

2. Peer Reviewer Selection & Assignment

Reviewer Assignment

Manuscripts passing desk screening are assigned to at least two independent reviewers with recognized expertise in capital market analysis, financial economics, econometrics, corporate finance, or strategic business management.

3. Independent Peer Review Evaluation

In-Depth Review

Reviewers rigorously evaluate the manuscript according to six key academic criteria:

  1. Originality & Novelty: Contribution to capital markets, financial theory, applied economics, or business practices.
  2. Methodological & Econometric Rigor: Sound research design, econometric modeling, valid sample selection, and statistical robustness.
  3. Financial & Practical Implications: Clear insights relevant to investors, corporate managers, market regulators, or economic policy makers.
  4. Literature Review & Citations: Comprehensive review of contemporary research (minimum 20 references, 80%+ primary journal articles).
  5. Clarity & Presentation: Logical flow, clear academic English, precise data tables, and well-structured figures.
  6. Ethical Standards & Transparency: Integrity of data sources, financial disclosures, and absence of fabrication or data manipulation.

4. Editorial Decision & Communication

Decision Phase

The Editor-in-Chief / Section Editor reviews the independent evaluations and renders one of four decisions:

  • Accept Submission: Accepted without further revisions.
  • Revisions Required: Accepted subject to minor revisions requested by reviewers.
  • Resubmit for Review: Requires major structural or empirical revisions followed by a second review round.
  • Decline Submission: Rejected due to insufficient academic contribution, methodological errors, or out-of-scope content.

5. Author Revision & Verification

Revision Phase

Authors requiring revisions must upload a revised manuscript along with a point-by-point Response to Reviewers Matrix within the specified timeframe (typically 14–21 days). The Editor verifies whether all concerns have been thoroughly addressed.

6. Production, Copyediting & Open Access Publication

Final Production

Following formal acceptance, the manuscript enters final production for copyediting, PDF galleting, Digital Object Identifier (DOI) assignment, and immediate open-access publication on the JCEBS portal.

i Summary of Review Decisions
