Democratizing Access to Community Empowerment Knowledge

JCOD: Journal of Community Outreach and Development is a fully open-access journal. All articles published in JCOD are made immediately available worldwide under an open-access license. This means:

  • Universal Access: Everyone has free and unlimited access to the full text of all articles published in JCOD.
  • Re-use Rights: Everyone is free to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full text of published articles, provided proper credit is given to the original authors.
  • No Paywalls: No subscription fees, pay-per-view charges, or institution-level access barriers are imposed on readers or institutions.

JCOD operates under the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), believing that open access to evidence-based community service, social innovation, and economic empowerment research fosters rapid dissemination of knowledge and maximizes real-world societal impact.

To guarantee permanent access to all published research, JCOD utilizes digital archiving frameworks and persistent identifier systems:

  • PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN): Automated long-term digital preservation for Open Journal Systems.
  • LOCKSS & CLOCKSS: Distributed archiving systems to ensure decentralized backup copy retention.
  • Digital Object Identifier (DOI): Every published article receives a unique DOI registered with Crossref for persistent linking.
